Dolbadarn Castle

05 August 2025 - Wales, United Kingdom

This is Dolbadarn Castle, a 13th-century castle located in North Wales. It was built by the Welsh prince Llywelyn the Great to guard the pass between Snowdonia and the coast. The castle is notable for a well-preserved round tower, which is one of the earliest examples of a stone keep in Wales.

The castle is surrounded by stunning scenery, with views of the mountains and the nearby Llyn Padarn lake.

We went during the evening, and the light was perfect for a bit of light painting photography.

There is parking available at the castle, and it is a short (10 minute) walk from the car park to the castle itself.
