Rockford Common

18 August 2025 - New Forest National Park, United Kingdom

Today I went for a 4km walk around Rockford Common. It is known for its purple heather, and it did not disappoint in that regard. There were shades of purple, yellow intermixed with green.

There were not many trees around the common so they really stood out.
A river that is very low showing the bed on one side
Dockens Water was looking very low when I crossed it about half way around.

As the walk went on it got cloudier and a bit darker, but luckily it did not rain.
A landscape of purple and yellow heather with cloudy sky
The colours stretched out for miles and miles.
