Sherwood Forest

Invalid date - Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom

One of the things I love about the UK is the Forestry Commission. Across the country, they manage well over 250,000 hectares of land for the benefit of everyone. This weekend I visited Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.

Although it is known for the legend of Robin Hood it, it was proclaimed a Royal Forest by William the Conqueror. Today it is much smaller than it once was, but it is still a wonderful place to visit for a walk - even if I didn't get to meet Robin Hood.

Sherwood Forest Frisbee Golf Course
There is a frisbee golf course here, meaning at certain points you do have to watch your head!

In the right light the trees seem to almost shimmer

The forestry commission do a good job at seperating mountain bikers from the walkers, but sometimes you do have to watch out.
